Accessibility

Compliance status: partially compliant with the French accessibility framework (RGAA 4.1), level AA.

The site aims at RGAA 4.1 compliance (WCAG 2.1 level AA criteria). It is stated as "partially compliant" until the manual tests described below have been carried out and dated.

What is checked

  • Automated checks (axe-core) on every page, in French and English, on desktop and phone, including open states (mode chosen, comparison, map card, list): no serious or critical violation, at every code update.
  • Keyboard navigation: skip link, visible focus ring, focus on the heading at each page change, menu, card and panels closing with Escape.
  • Computed contrasts: text at least 4.5:1, field and button outlines at least 3:1; colour never carries information alone.
  • Display at 320 px wide without horizontal scrolling; Atkinson Hyperlegible typeface, designed for low-vision readers.
  • The map has a text alternative: the list of neighbourhoods, sortable and filterable with the same filters.
  • Animations reduced or removed when the system setting asks for it; no animation lasting more than 5 seconds.

What remains to be checked

These tests must be done by a person, on real devices:

  • screen readers: NVDA with Firefox, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, TalkBack on Android;
  • keyboard-only navigation of the whole journey (address, neighbourhood, map, method);
  • browser zoom at 200% and 400%;
  • Windows high-contrast mode;
  • reduced motion on a real phone.

Known limits

  • The map itself cannot be browsed neighbourhood by neighbourhood with the keyboard: the list of neighbourhoods is its alternative.
  • The first steps of the map colours are pale on white (1.5:1 contrast); the value is always given in writing (legend, card, list).
  • Wheelchair durations account for neither pavements, slopes nor broken lifts.
